As Salaam Alaikum

Something that worries me about modern methods of teaching Islam is that people have become too focused on gaming the algorithm, going viral, and measuring success in numbers. The reality is that a viral 2 minute video rarely leaves a permanent impact on the soul, and in the process we have let go of some of the fundamentals of Dawah which includes long-term sustainable efforts to transform souls.

We have purposely tried to avoid this at Islamic Self Help. We focus on long-term transformative courses. This is why our current program, Ethical Living, is a 60 module course split over two years. The goal is to take students on a long-term transformative journey through collective study of a classical text. This form of teaching may reach less people, but it leaves a bigger impact long-term in shaa Allah.

This does not mean that the Shorts, Viral Videos, etc. are not important and do not play any positive role in the Dawah. They can be valuable if they lead to more, but it is not our goal to crease those "moments". Our goal is long-term sustainable spiritual and intellectual growth of believers. This requires commitment and dedicated study over a long period of time.
